Building a beautiful life
Shortly after I left my job, I started thinking about the life I wanted to create in the space that had opened. I quickly settled on a new goal: Building a Beautiful Life by Design, one intentionally shaped in harmony with my heart, my mind and my soul.
I let myself dream – I mean, really dream. I dreamt of projects and businesses and products and brands and achievements. I dreamt of books and art and beautiful spaces. I made a vision board that included making a $100K donation to charity, a feature on the cover of Forbes magazine, an ocean front property in Miami, and more. Time will tell whether these specific dreams ever come to fruition. The point is, I didn’t put limits on my dreams. I didn’t ‘play small’ when I imagined what was possible.
If you dream small dreams, you will live a small life.
I think we’re conditioned to live small, and there are many reasons for that. Fear of failure, choosing comfort over risk, being told your dreams are unrealistic by very well-meaning people.
I’d even go so far as to say that many of us aren’t really living. Now you may be thinking, What? I live my life every day! Gently, I ask: are you? I know how easy it is to live on autopilot, moving robotically through your routine day after day. Been there, done that!
I invite you to spend a few minutes today just letting yourself dream of what could be if you were truly living a life of your own design. Look around and you will very likely find evidence that someone, somewhere, is living your dream. The question is: why aren’t you?
